Trauma changes how clients experience their bodies from the inside out, often long before they can put words to what is happening.
As a result, even highly motivated clients may feel overwhelmed, emotionally confused, disconnected, or unable to sustain regulation in therapy. When internal sensory signals are unclear or intolerable, progress stalls and traditional talk-based approaches fall short.
Interoception, the process by which the nervous system senses, interprets, and integrates signals originating from within the body, providing a moment-by-moment mapping of the body’s internal landscape across conscious and unconscious levels , is a missing link in effective trauma treatment. Without a clear framework for working with interoceptive signals, clinicians may rely too heavily on cognitive strategies, overlooking the precise point where expectation, perception, and interoceptive regulation can be accessed and reshaped.
In this powerful 6-hour training, you will gain a clinically grounded, practical framework for understanding interoception and applying it directly to trauma treatment. You’ll learn how internal sensory patterns reflect nervous system activity and emotional meaning, and how to use this information to improve pacing, enhance stabilization, reduce overwhelm, and create more targeted, effective interventions that support lasting therapeutic change.
What You’ll Learn
- Understand the relationship between interoceptive awareness and autonomic states
- Recognize how disrupted or misinterpreted interoception signals contribute to anxiety, trauma, dissociation, and unexplained body symptoms
- Help clients safely reconnect with physiological sensations without overwhelm
- Use interoceptive tracking to support emotional regulation, connection, and relational ease

IMPROVE CLIENT OUTCOMES
SKILLS YOU CAN APPLY WITH CLIENTS IMMEDIATELY
- Read interoceptive signals as clinical data — recognize how disrupted or misread body sensations show up as anxiety, dissociation, and unexplained physical symptoms in your clients
- Pace trauma work using nervous system cues — use real-time interoceptive tracking to know when to slow down, stabilize, or move deeper
- Guide clients back into their bodies safely — help even dysregulated clients reconnect with physical sensation without triggering overwhelm
- Turn body awareness into regulation and connection — apply interoceptive tracking to build emotional regulation and relational ease in session
DESIGNED FOR THERAPISTS WORKING WITH TRAUMA
Suitable for therapists, psychologists, counsellors, psychiatrists, physicians, addiction professionals, and marriage and family therapists working across CBT, TF-CBT, DBT, IFS, somatic, psychoanalytic, integrative, and other evidence-based treatment approaches. The consultation series focuses on clinical principles that transcend modality, helping clinicians apply interoception, neuroscience, and trauma-informed practice to complex presentations.
