Summit Schedule
Day 1 | Friday, 27 January 2026
9:00 AM – 4:00 PM Eastern Time
9:00 AM – 10:25 AM ET
Interoception: Interpreting the Language of Trauma & Recovery for Effective Intervention
Abi Blakeslee, SEP, SMT, MFT, PhD
Interoception, the conscious awareness of internal bodily sensation, shapes how trauma is experienced, maintained, and healed. Shock and developmental trauma are accessed through interoceptive experience and reflected in self-concept. This workshop examines survival and healing states, teaching clinicians to recognize metaphoric interoceptive patterns as nervous system biomarkers, enabling more precise intervention, state change, recovery, and restoration of coherent self.
10:45 AM – 12:00 PM ET
Healing COMPLEX TRAUMA WITH INTEROCEPTIve INTELLIGENCE
Tracy Jarvis, MSc, UKCP
Complex trauma disrupts interoceptive awareness and accuracy, creating “ background noise” that distorts internal signals of safety, emotion, and need. This workshop draws on contemporary interoception research to build interoceptive clarity and precision. Participants learn to reduce signal noise, accurately track nervous system states where possible, and support restoration of regulation, coherence, and embodied self-connection through experiential practice and applied interoceptive skill-building.
Break: 12.00-1.00pm ET
1:00 PM – 2:15 PM ET
INTEROCEPTION & EXPreSSIVE ARTS: The BRIDGE OF CREATIVE AWARENESS
Jacqueline Compton, RP, RCAT
This workshop offers clinicians practical, research-informed approaches to working with trauma through interoception-informed expressive arts practices, where disrupted internal sensing and implicit bodily memory limit verbal processing. Participants learn to integrate creative and art-based approaches to help clients access, differentiate, and modulate interoceptive signals, restoring clarity, regulation, and coherence. The material supports work with complex trauma, dissociation, and attachment-related challenges within neurobiologically grounded, interoception-informed trauma care.
2:35 PM – 4:00 PM ET
Interoceptive Ownership & Adaptive State Feedback: Integrating Interoception-Based Tracking into Trauma-Informed Care
Kate Truitt, PhD, MA, MBA
This workshop focuses on interoceptive ownership, the degree to which clients can access, feel, and authentically claim adaptive internal states, such as safety, connection, or agency, and explores how this capacity supports trauma-informed clinical change. Grounded in empirical findings on interoception and neuroplasticity, clinicians will learn how to integrate moment-to-moment interoceptive tracking and state-rating routines into treatment in ways that enhance adaptive state embodiment. The focus throughout is on integrating interoception-based feedback through the lens of Brain Partnership to enhance collaborative, trauma-responsive care
Summit Schedule
Day 2 | Saturday, 28 FEBRUARY 2026
9:00 AM – 4:00 PM Eastern Time
9:00 AM – 10:25 PM ET
BEYOND REGULATION: USING INTEROCEPTION TO REFINE POLYVAGAL-INFORMED CLINICAL INTERVENTIONS
Courtney Rolfe, MA, LCPC, SEP
Recent advances in interoception and autonomic nervous system research are reshaping how effective psychotherapy is understood and practiced. This session brings that science directly into the clinical room, demonstrating how interoceptive assessment and practice can significantly enhance existing therapeutic approaches. Drawing on Polyvagal Theory and contemporary interoception research, leading Polyvagal trainer, Courtney Rolfe, bridges brain, body, and nervous system to offer an integrative, evidence-based framework that expands clinical precision, depth, and therapeutic impact for therapists and wellness professionals.
10:45 AM – 12:00 PM ET
EMBODYING ESSENTIAL OPPOSITIONAL TENSIONS: PHILOSOPHY, PHENOMEMOLOGY, & PHYSIOLOGY
Dr. Gordon Barclay, MRCGP, MRCPsych
Following a brief framing of dialectical tension and relational phenomenology, this presentation focuses on physiology and interoception as drivers of lasting trauma change. Building on Bruce Ecker’s concept of mismatch, it examines how embodied experiences of warmth and safety, prior to trauma processing, expand interoceptive safety, creating adequate mismatch that enables deeper reconciliation without triggering entrenched defensive reactivity.
Break: 12.00-1.00pm ET
1:00 AM – 2:15 PM ET
THE HEART OF STRESS & MENTAL HEALTH: CARDIAC INTEROCEPTION, AUTONOMIC REGULATION, & SELF-RELATED EXPERIENCE

INTEROCEPTION & MEANING MAKING: AN INTEROCEPTIVE FRAMEWORK IN MEMORY PROCESSING & TRAUMA RECOVERY
Tracy Jarvis, MSc, UKCP
This workshop examines how interoceptive inaccuracy disrupts emotional meaning-making, memory integration, and conscious experience following trauma. Drawing on emerging research in interoception, emotion, and consciousness, participants will learn how distorted internal signals shape traumatic memory processing. The presentation offers a clinically applicable interoceptive framework for restoring signal accuracy, supporting adaptive emotional integration, and promoting durable recovery from trauma.
